What Happens When We Ignore Warning Signs?

With hurricane Dorian running rampant, it seemed a good time to write on warnings. Hurricane Dorian is a category 5 tropical storm that is currently battering the Bahamas and has started to touch down on lower Florida. Please know if you are in the path of hurricane Dorian, we are praying for you.

Why is it that so many of us run right past the warning signs in life and right into chaos and danger? Do we prefer to live in danger and excitement that leads to regret? Well, I don’t know exactly which it is, but I do know that we all face periods in our lives where a warning is given to us. It’s up to us what we do with these warnings.

Just like we are given warnings when great storms and dangerous weather is upon us; we are given warnings when we fall into addictions and our body struggles with the foreign toxins; we are given warnings when we let our health deteriorate.

We will all get a certain warning in our lives in some form. What is the result of not heeding the warning? Generally, it’s a negative consequence. If we hear a warning from someone or something, and yet we keep going right past the danger, we must endure whatever consequences follow. I spent so many of my years living in negative consequences as I would always run past the warning signs and right into the storms.

It’s like after some time, I would just get used to living in negative situations; that I would just consider it to be the hand I was dealt, or a part of life. Warning signs are meant to prevent us from going through a hardship and suffering negative consequences.

What about when warnings are false?

This is a big reason why we don’t heed warnings. We say to ourselves that it’s not that bad, that it won’t affect me, and that it probably won’t even happen. This is when we let our guards down and this is when disaster strikes. It is then that we move into the reality of the danger upon us and start crying out for help. This is when it’s often too late.

God gives us warnings

Have you heard of the story of Noah’s Ark? Most likely you have. This was a man who received a revelation from God and decided to heed the warning. In an area where there was very little water and very little rain, he sure looked like a fool building a massive boat. But when he climbed onto that boat and when the doors were closed, the rain fell, and the waters flooded the entire earth. Then who looked like the fool?

Is there any kind of warning you have been hearing lately? Is there anything that you have been getting a gut-feeling about that you have time to do something about? Often, these warnings come with a bit of a grace period. This is the time between the warning and the chaos where we have enough time to make a change or flee the scene.

It’s when we hear the warning, ignore it, and don’t use the grace period accordingly. This is when disaster strikes, and we are left in a mess. After we go through these situations, then we gain wisdom. This wisdom is what will help us the next time we get a warning; “Hey, remember last time?”; that is, if we survive.

Life is short and we aren’t invincible. Sure, some warnings are for things that pose no physical threat, but only come with some discomfort or embarrassment. However, there are some warnings that come before extreme threat to our very being and existence.

There is an important warning that many are ignoring right now

Colossians 3:5-6
“So, put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.”
1 Peter 4:17-18
“For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News? And also, if the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to godless sinners?”
Revelation 20:15
“And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.”
Revelation 14:11
“The smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever, and they will have no relief day or night, for they have worshiped the beast and his statue and have accepted the mark of his name.”

This is the warning we’ve been getting and not heeding. There is a terrible storm upon us, but so many are calling it a bluff. They say we’re crazy and that we have no idea what we’re talking about. This Day of Judgment that is coming will be on a whole different level than anything we’ve experienced before.

The flood of Noah was completely devastating to the entire population; well, except for 8 individuals who heeded the warning. The same is coming. There are only a few in the whole of the population who are heeding the warning.

There is a deceiver out there, Satan, who is blinding people to the truth. Only thirty short years ago it was still commonplace for families to be rooted in the Word of God and to go to church and to say the Lord’s Prayer. Now, it’s unacceptable in society. Hey folks, there is a warning coming to everyone right now; this is the grace period.

If we are given a word to warn others, we are expected to do so for their sake and ours

Ezekiel 3:16-19
“After seven days the LORD gave me a message. He said, “Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for Israel. Whenever you receive a message from me, warn people immediately. If I warn the wicked, saying, ‘You are under the penalty of death,’ but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible for their deaths. If you warn them and they refuse to repent and keep on sinning, they will die in their sins. But you will have saved yourself because you obeyed me.”

God uses anyone and everyone to do His work. He doesn’t care about our limitations or shortcomings; He will use us to do His work. There are many people who are actively getting messages from God in various ways to share a word or to go help someone or to bring warning. These people have a choice; be obedient and do as God is saying, or, ignore it and go about life.

Even if we aren’t actively hearing from God, we are still given directions to share our faith in Jesus. Matthew 28:19 is the Great Commission; “Go therefore, and make disciples…” This is where we are told to take our knowledge about Jesus, about sin, and about the coming wrath of God, and share it with the lost. We are effectively told to deliver a message for God; a warning from above.

The whole of Christianity isn’t about living nicely and lovingly and getting along with everyone; it’s firstly about escaping the coming judgment on the world by accepting Christ Jesus. However, it’s also about getting along with people and living nicely and lovingly and as an example for Christ.

Living for God is what we’re called to do. As a result, we are given a gift of Salvation; eternal life in the Kingdom of God. Living as an example of Christ is also what we’re called to do. This means, we must go about living right before God, doing good and living in truth, and ready at any moment to share our faith in Jesus with someone who is otherwise going to perish.

We are effectively Soldiers for Christ and we are fighting in a battle every day. If we know all this and sit on our sofas and watch reality shows without doing anything in the service of the Lord, are we not at risk of being held responsible for the loss of many according to what God said in the above verse, Ezekiel 3:16-19? This is a “warning for believers” to go and share a “warning for unbelievers.”

We don’t have to look far to see prophecies of end-times being fulfilled. We don’t need to search for a sinful world; one likened to the days of Noah. There is a big storm approaching and we are the watchmen that God is calling on. We, who have heard the Word of God have been appointed to warn others of the coming Judgment.

Our gifts and calling

We have all been called to the service of the Lord. For anyone who says that they don’t know what their calling is; it’s this: Matthew 28:19 – The Great Commission.

I understand that we want to have a gift of prophecy or to do miracles or something fun and exciting, and maybe if not now, then at some point, God will cause this to happen through you. But if you want to do something for God, but don’t feel that you have any gifting or talents or a calling, then I encourage you to go to your local church and simply offer your hand for help.

By doing this, you will more than likely be accepted to pitch in for something. It’s often not until we take a step of faith that God shows up and reveals the next step. Going and blindly offering a hand of help will often lead to bigger things. It’s in these things where gifting and strengths will be revealed and made clear.

For me, I started writing this blog nearly two years ago. For the first year and a bit I was only writing on feel-good stuff and about success and prosperity and living for self. Eventually, I followed the promptings on my heart and obeyed God. For me, this meant to literally delete every meaningless article and book I had written, and start writing articles to share my faith, my hardships throughout my faith, and what has been revealed to me about the coming times.

Sure, at first this was difficult, but as the days progress and I remain obedient to God, I am learning and growing, and my service is getting easier. I started blogging to make big money. This never happened; it still isn’t happening even in complete obedience to God. But I know that I am continually building up treasures and rewards in Heaven with every truthful and helpful article I write.

I know that one day God will greet me at His Gates and say, “Well done good and faithful servant!”

I encourage you today to seek God in your daily activities. Understand the times, understand the coming Judgment on man. As you spend more time reading the bible, praying to God, worshiping God in music, singing, and praise; God will help you grow and will give you certain tasks and you will know your calling and your strengths.

This isn’t an easy article to write or to hear. I, as a Christian, am a messenger of God, sent to deliver the message of The Good News, just like all Christians. Eternal death and absolute destruction don’t necessarily sound like good news. But knowing that we can escape death and gain Eternal Salvation in the Kingdom of God alongside Jesus is good news.

We must understand that there is a warning to each of us right now to turn to God and to turn away from living for Satan. All who live only to please themselves and to strive only for personal gain are living in their sinful nature; this is living for Satan.

If you get a message from God or a gut feeling to do God’s work in some way, I encourage you to act on that. Obedience to the True God is rewarding for us and for those who are the recipients of good deeds. We will never go wrong in God’s sight when we live according to Him.
