Each day we wake up and head out into the world to make our mark. We want to be someone, and we want to become something. Many people will lose themselves in pursuit of themselves. I know this seems crazy, and it is. Instead of finding great wealth and all the joy we believe it will bring, instead, we find emptiness and stress and burden and regret. But there is a way to find the success you are looking for, and it’s not where you’ve been looking.
We often feel like it’s us who causes all things in our life to happen, whether good or bad. But in reality, God and Satan stand behind much of what goes on. In fact, our role is quite small. But we can make things better or worse through our actions and how we respond to our circumstances each day.
There is a spiritual war that is going on around us and there are two forces; good and evil. God wants the best for us, and Satan wants the worst. Satan causes chaos and turmoil in our life in various forms, and God is there to help carry us through and keep us going. But what happens when we aren’t living for God? Does He still help us?
God does require a commitment from us. It’s not a one-way street here. God will help to no end, but not if He’s the only one pitching in to the relationship; and that’s what is necessary, a relationship with God. Without this relationship, we’re just left with the devil. Could that be why life is so frustrating? Could that be why nothing seems to ever work out? Perhaps.
In this article, I want to talk about the way that God wants you and me to live. I want to encourage you to consider these things. God’s intention for all His creation is to grow as much as they can and be as much as they can be. He loves everything He created, and seeing you struggling in life is not His intention. God wants His children to be successful and to multiply in all they do.

Stop chasing your dreams
“Take delight in the LORD,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.”
Doesn’t everyone say to dream big and to keep the dream alive? Aren’t you supposed to turn your dreams into goals by putting action to them? Isn’t a person without dreams and hope, hopeless? Yes, this is the way the world thinks. But in this article, I want to encourage you to remove your faith from the world and redirect it to God. I want you to turn to God as your teacher and provider now.
Many who read this will already have a relationship with God, and if this is true for you, then great; you’re already ahead of some. However, if you are struggling in life to become successful, there may still be some things you need to work on. Am I saying that every single Christian is supposed to be successful and wealthy? Yes and no.
Dripping with gold and jewels and cash may not be God’s idea of wealth for one individual, while for another, it is. Only God knows exactly how He desires to bless you, and only you will be able to find that out through growing your relationship with Him and being obedient to Him.
However, since there are many forms of wealth, and not just money, I do believe that God’s desire is for His children to be wealthy in many areas. If your idea of success is limited to money only, you will be hard-pressed to find the joy you are looking for. Eventually, you may find it, but it may cost you the wealth God already gave you; the true wealth that brings true joy.
God wants you to dream. He has put creativity into you and it’s Him that gives you inspirations and hope. So, if this is true, then why would I say to stop chasing your dreams? Well, I want you to stop chasing them alone. I want you to first build a relationship with God, and then with God at your side, then chase the dreams together.
You do this by praying to God with faith about the thing you want, and you give Him the chance to bless you with it. This is pleasing to God. Focus more on building the relationship than getting the blessing.

Study the Word of God
“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”
The Holy Bible is the Word of God. In this book, you will find all the answers for how to live successfully for God and to defeat the devil. If you only had this book in your library and this is the only book you study for your entire life, you would find success.
God doesn’t need you to go and spend six-figures on a degree to be successful, although a degree still might be His plan for you. He can cause you to be successful with the talents He’s already given you. A healthy relationship with Him will bring these out in you. So many people are not living up to their potential. Sure, they might have a good job and some money in the bank, but according to God, they’re falling short of what He created them to do.
Spending time reading the bible each day is spending time with God. This is pleasing to Him. His desire is a relationship with you, and this means a lot to Him. Like any loving Father, He blesses His children who are faithful and obedient to Him.
The Bible itself may not say that you are to be a doctor or own a hotel or sell cars, but it will give you wisdom; God’s Wisdom. God Himself will impart His wisdom on you as you faithfully read His Word. The closer you get to God through studying His Word and praying, the more He will reveal to you. If you want to know God’s plan for your life specifically, you must surrender to God fully and start asking Him to show you. He will.
When you read the bible, study the character of Jesus. Look at how the men and women in the stories practiced having faith in God. The bible says God has no favorites; Just as He blessed His children then, He will surely do the same for you if you are walking in His Will. Abraham practiced faith in God, and God blessed him greatly; Job practiced faith in God, and God blessed him greatly; David practiced faith in God, and God blessed him greatly. See a pattern?
Practice obedience to the Lord
Obedience is something that God expects from all His children, just as any parent expects obedience. Consider that if you have a child and that child is wild and rebellious. Would you be doing that child any favors by rewarding their behavior? No. First, discipline would be necessary. Then, after a time of testing and the child showing remorse and repentance and confirmed obedience, then you would be willing to reward them. In fact, it would bring joy to you to bless them with a gift and shower them with love.
The same is with God. He won’t reward disobedience and rebellion. He will discipline if necessary, to get you back on the right path. He will allow you to live in negative consequence for a time to allow you to learn from it. But when He sees repentance and obedience, He will bless and reward. If you read the bible, you will see a pattern with God; He blesses and rewards those who are obedient and faithful to Him.
Good stewardship means taking good care of all that God has entrusted you with; your body and health, your relationships, your finances, your home, and vehicles. God rewards good stewardship with more. Consider the Scripture in Matthew 25:14-30, the parable of the talents.
In this parable, the master gave three servants some money. He gave five talents to one, two to another, and one to the third. He told them to keep it safe and do well. The servants with the five talents and the two talents both doubled the money. When the master returned, he said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!” To the servant who had one, that servant did nothing with the talent, and for this, the master was upset and took everything away from him.
God is the master and He’s already been giving you tests throughout life. How have you been doing? Are you a good steward? Can He reward you with more?
Be consistent and patient
We all know that success happens over time. Most of the “Overnight successes” have been building for years. However, the masses only take notice of them once they become popular. God has already created you to be successful in a certain way. You have a natural way to you that will bring you great success. But you need to find it and put it to work.
Perhaps you have been trying to find success in the wrong thing. This will lead to frustration and fatigue. If you do it God’s way, you will not wear out. It will come easily, and He will provide you with the strength you need to press on. God surely will do what He says, but in His timing. You are expected by God to keep doing what is right, to keep seeking His Will for your life, and to remain focused and faithful to Him.
By doing this, He will keep you going and will provide for you and in the perfect timing, will deliver you into success. While walking with the Lord consistently and getting to know Him through prayer and bible reading, He will reveal certain things to you. You will find out who you are, what your gifts and strengths are, and He will hone your desires to match His Will.
When you start praying for His Will to be done, He will do it.
“And, we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.”
Not even Satan can prevent God from doing what He wants in your life. Choose the Lord’s side and push the devil and his ways aside. If you faithfully walk with God, you will find success and joy in your life.
If you were looking for how to build up tremendous cash reserves and attain items of luxury, I don’t think I can deliver on that. Certain people who have followed God and some even today have tremendous financial status, but it’s not because they chased the money; it’s because they were obedient to God’s calling on their life and practiced good stewardship.
Most of them will tell you that their career isn’t wearing them down, nor did the wealth in their lives cost them their families or health. Satan’s way of doing things will bring stress and anxiety and breakdown, with constant struggle, and his way always comes at a cost. If you want true success in life, seek the Will of God for your life and make that your goal.
“Commit your actions to the LORD,
and your plans will succeed.”
