“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.”
When we listen to our favorite songs on the radio, we get familiar with the singer’s voice. We get to a point where a brand-new song can come on and we say, “Oh, that’s so and so.” This comes as a result of studying their voice through repetition. The more we play their music, the more familiar their voice is.

The same is true of God. We have the bible that we can study. This is the written Word of God. The more we study this book, the more familiar we become with the character and voice of God. This means that if we are well-informed about the true teachings in the bible, we will easily be able to point out an imposter, just like if someone tries to imitate our favorite singer. We will quickly see the differences between the true and fake.
We are warned in the bible that many will be deceived and will fall away from the teachings of God and their faith in Jesus. We can see that there are religions out there right now that seem very tempting to look into because they preach a message of blessings and enjoyment and acceptance and of everything else that is nice.
Our bible preaches all of these things, too, but it preaches that not everyone will take part in these great things. Many churches preach that there is no Hell and still many won’t preach on the name of Jesus. Sadly, people who attend these churches and who study these religions will be deceived.

Satan is out deceiving and destroying at an alarming rate
“Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve.”
Satan is clever and crafty. He is smooth and subtle. I don’t say this to put him high on a pedestal, but rather, to warn that we often don’t know we’ve been deceived until roots of evil start to form in us. We see this through our actions.
In this Scripture above, Satan came upon one of Jesus’ disciples. These are guys who were walking with Jesus each day. In the book of Matthew, chapter 4, verses 1-11, we see that Satan came to Jesus in the wilderness to try to tempt Him. These Scriptures show that the enemy is out to get anyone; especially, teachers of the Word.
If he can corrupt from the top of an organization, that is, if he can corrupt those who are sharing the true Message of Christ, then all who follow thereafter will be misled and deceived. He will go after the head of Christian households, too, as this is an easy way to break up Christian families. He will get in where he can to create division by any means possible.
We hear stories of adultery and other sexually immoral situations that take place in churches and with popular Christian men and women. We see strong Christians denouncing their faith in Christ and “going a different way.”
The enemy is working hard right now, sending his workers all over the world, to corrupt as many as possible and to trash the name of Jesus. Satan knows that Jesus is the only way to true Life, so naturally, this is what he is working to destroy in our society.
Daily communication with God is the way to loyalty and true devotion
“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!”
Reading the bible every morning and praying to God is the way to build a relationship with Jesus. Understanding that faith in Jesus alone is the way to Salvation is very important. People who are deceived by false teachings will soon believe in their hearts that they know the way to Heaven and that all is good, but will soon see that they were deceived.
We are warned that a coming Day of Judgment will happen. We are given many descriptions of “signs of the times.” We are told in the bible about how this will unravel, and we are given direction on how to live in a prepared state in Christ for His imminent return.
The bible clearly teaches that the deceived will be cast into the fiery pit of Hell with Satan. There won’t be any amount of begging or pleading on Judgment Day that will change God’s mind. Again, spending as much time as possible learning about Jesus and who we are in Him will help build a strong foundation within us.
We must go through our days realizing that the fight of the day isn’t to earn money or attain goals, but rather, to remain in Christ. This life is quick, and we only get one chance to live for God. Many say, “People have been claiming end times since the resurrection of Christ, so, what’s the rush?”
Well, since the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are in the end times. But surely people can see that we are closer than ever to the return of Jesus? Folks, be careful to not fall into the trap that there’s time, and that we can get right with God later. The bible warns us to be prepared now. We are told repeatedly to turn to Jesus and to live according to God’s Will.
How do we live in a prepared state in Christ?
“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
We are given much instruction throughout the bible for how we are to live. We are told that even though people will rise up and teach variations of the Word of God, we are to remain loyal to the true teachings of Jesus.
So, what can we do to get right before God and remain in Him in these trying times? The answer is; choice. Each day, we must wake up and choose to put on the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-17). Each day, we must wake up and choose to make an immediate turn to the Lord and to offer ourselves to the service of God. Each day, we must wake up and seek the true God, and say; “Not my will, but yours, Lord.”

When we come to God in full surrender and seek His direction, He is faithful to respond. He will work in and through us as long as we are seeking Him and not letting our pride get in the way. As God moves in our lives, and great things happen, it’s easy to get puffed up with pride. It’s at this point that we become vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy.
Along with full surrender each morning to God, we must also die to self. This means, the worldly and fleshly desires that we have must take a back seat to the promptings and teachings of God. We will be hard-pressed to hear God give us direction in our life if we are too focused on other things in life. Living for God and growing close to Jesus takes focus and a willingness to die to everything else.
But when we do live in this fashion, God can and will use us for His Work and He will provide us with everything we need, including the strength to resist the devil (James 4:7).
We are in some wild times right now. The days of Noah were harsh, and the people of that time wouldn’t surrender to God. So, God purged the world through the big flood. The end times that are spoken of in the bible will result in another purge, but this time, it will be final.
We are wise to learn about the signs of the times and to learn about living right for God. The Lord says that He’ll return for His followers, but at a time that is unknown. This means, we must live like He could show up at any moment, because He truly can.
Why is this so important? If you must ask this question, I encourage you to also study about the eternal torment of Hell that is appointed to all who refuse to surrender to Jesus.
However, full surrender to Jesus results in Eternal Life in the Kingdom of Heaven. When we compare our short 70-100 years on earth to eternity, we are wise to realize that there is no comparison. Instead of chasing the pleasures of this world, consider storing up treasures in Heaven. Seek Jesus daily and live as an example for Him in these dark times. Spend as much time as possible building a relationship with Him, and by doing this, you will learn the true character and voice of God, which will allow you to stand firm in the True Faith and avoid deception.
