If there were ever something that upsets God, it’s hate. Satan knows this, so he works in the lives of many in our society to cause anger and hatred. By doing this, he knows that he can cause a wedge between people and God, and he also knows that this will prevent the Gospel of Christ from spreading quickly.
The devil especially is attacking the name of Jesus Christ in society and even within private places worldwide because he knows that Jesus is in fact, the way to Salvation. Why doesn’t he attack other religions or “prophets” as Jesus is known to be? Because, they don’t have the same power that Jesus has.

If you give in to the devil and are angry or hateful towards God’s people or other believers, it’s you that will ultimately deal with God. Don’t fall victim to this way of living. Understand that hate is an evil spirit, and the spirit of hate can be cast off and sent away. Love covers sin and love is more powerful than hate.
It’s through love that friendships are healed; it’s through love that intimate relationships are made great; it’s through love that troubled children are given hope; and, it’s through love that God intends you to operate.
In this article, I want to talk about a few ways that the devil is causing division in our world and even in our homes through hate towards others. Even in Christian homes, these things are happening and destroying unions that God worked to build. If you have been doing any of these or see it in your own household, I encourage you to seek God’s direction and to resist the enemy.

The devil wants you to slander and gossip
“A troublemaker plants seeds of strife;
gossip separates the best of friends.”
Satan works hard to make sure division happens. He wants to break up families, churches and any faith-filled organizations, and especially, our society. Satan would have an all-out apocalyptic world where everyone slays everyone if he could, but for now, he settles with a more subtle approach; gossip.
Some might say, “Is gossip really that bad?” Well, it is. Gossip and slander can quickly ruin the reputation of someone. Reputations are very important for people and their credibility is also based on their reputation. Suppose someone gets falsely labeled as a murderer or worse, society will always question this person and trust will be very limited, even though they were falsely accused.
People often don’t realize that a little talking in private can quickly spread and become a destroying issue. Also, when you do gossip about someone, especially family or friend, the relationship becomes strained, and in many cases, broken.
Nobody likes their business being broadcasted, especially when it’s not even based on truth. If you have an issue with someone, it’s far better to take it up with them or bring it to God in prayer. This way, no one’s reputation is at stake, and your own reputation can also be maintained. Because when someone gets labeled as a gossip, their reputation is at risk just as much. That person can quickly lose credibility.
If you are a follower of Christ and you become known for gossip and slander, your reputation and credibility go out the window. People will question what you preach, and likely won’t come to Jesus through you anytime soon. Look at gossip and slander as a sinful practice and be done with it. Seek God for strength if need be to refrain from it and ask Him to give you a spirit of love and to bind back the enemy. Take your thoughts captive; “Is what I am about to say helpful and loving and would God approve?”
The devil wants you to be judgmental
“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?”
It’s easy to get caught up in the news of others’ lives and to want to share your opinion; especially, if you know a better way they ought to be living. But God wants you to withhold your opinion and show love instead.
There is a way to guide a person back onto the right path if they are doing something wrong. The bible says to do it lovingly. It’s best if two confront a person on wrong living or bad habits, especially in the church body, and to do so in a non-offensive manner. Otherwise, the chances of the situation escalating into something much worse is very possible.
But the enemy would rather that you just be harsh with someone and be opinionated towards them because he would rather see you destroy that relationship instead of saving it. If you see someone doing something that isn’t right and you quickly go to them and tell them that they’re wrong and must stop, they might take offense and either attack you or completely withdraw from knowing you.
A loving way to confront someone who is engaged in wrongful activity is to bring fact into the picture. Especially, if they are a Christian brother or sister, show them the contradiction between their behavior and Scripture.
If you automatically judge them for what they are doing, you risk getting judged back by them and by God. The verse above says to not judge people. This has much to do with the fact that none of us are perfect. We are called to love, not to judge. God is the Judge and it’s Him who will do this. As for you and me, we’re to act in loving kindness and help others back onto the right path through example.
The devil doesn’t want you to forgive others
“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
The devil definitely doesn’t want you to forgive others. If you don’t, then the relationship remains broken and you remain broken deep inside. Have you ever noticed that it’s difficult to hold a grudge or to not forgive someone? What happens is your sleep can be affected and you can get easily angered when thinking about the situation.
This is a problem because God doesn’t tolerate bitterness. Bitterness will eat away at your health and steal your joy. God wants you to be at peace and to have inner joy. Satan wants you to be torn apart on the inside and will try to keep you angry at someone.
The bible clearly says that if you don’t forgive someone for their faults, then God won’t forgive you for yours, either. This is not a good scenario. It’s the forgiveness of our sins that will be our saving grace come Judgment Day. If God won’t forgive you, what is the eternal outcome for this?
I have held grudges and I know firsthand how damaging it is to me and to the one I’m upset with. When I would finally let the situation go and allow forgiveness, I would also feel a sense of relief. I have learned to let things go quickly, and when someone offends me, I give it to God, and I go on with life. This doesn’t make me weak in the eyes of the Lord, and that’s what matters most.

If you have someone to forgive, I encourage you to do that as soon as possible and be done with it. Don’t let the devil ruin your relationships and steal your joy and blessings in life.
“Then Peter came to him and asked, ‘Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?’
‘No, not seven times,’ Jesus replied, ‘but seventy times seven!’”
Our world can be a hurtful place. The devil has been working long and hard to get it to this point. He will keep making it worse if he can. God wants you to be a light in the dark world and to not participate in the darkness. This can be exceedingly difficult when others are wronging you in some way. Retaliation and revenge feel sweet in the moment, but in God’s eyes, this isn’t helpful.
God wants us to operate in love and to not worry about being the judges of everyone. Getting that right is a difficult job, and only one that a God who knows everything can handle. God is omniscient, so He does make the best judge.
If you want to build relationships and great reputations and sleep easy, then live in love and strive to build others up. The devil will hate this and will work against you to stop you, but keep up the good fight. By not retaliating, some might say you are weak, and let them. God knows this makes you powerful over the enemy, and that’s who’s really behind this.
Put an end to gossip and slander and rumors by working the situation out directly with that person. Put the pride away and be willing to accept fault. In most instances, one is not perfectly innocent. The bigger man will take lashes he doesn’t deserve to end the dispute, and for this, God will reward you.
“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.”
