1. Free Gift of Salvation to those who Believe
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
To begin this list of promises, we should start with the most important: Salvation. If you don’t have Salvation, the rest won’t matter, right?
Salvation is a free gift from God. It can’t be earned or bought. It can only be accepted.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Believing in Jesus and accepting Him as your personal Lord and Savior is where you need to start your journey for Salvation and Life. This is the only way provided to us by God. But when you do, you receive the rich inheritance of Eternal Life with Christ and you become an heir of His, sharing in the fullness that was given to Him.

Rebuke the devil and Live!

2. Assurance of our Salvation
Romans 10:9-10
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
There has been some confusion concerning Salvation and the way to God, and this is thanks to Satan. Here’s what Jesus said in John 10:10:
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
The devil has limited time to wreak havoc and cause as much division between man and God as he can. Soon, Satan will be cast into the lake of fire for eternity, allowing for true peace on earth. Until then, we all must understand that he will be telling us all sorts of lies to get us to renounce God and Jesus and to live for ourselves.
There are many people who accept Jesus into their hearts and lives only to spend the next days, months, and maybe even years, questioning whether or not they’re actually saved.
We are told in Romans 10 that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, that you’ll be saved.
It ends with a period. It doesn’t go on and say, “But first you need to do this or that!”
If you’ve sincerely asked Jesus into your life to save you and lead you, you are saved. Regardless of the thoughts that Satan puts into your mind thereafter, you are saved.
Now, to clarify, Salvation isn’t a feeling. It’s an understanding that will require faith. When people don’t feel saved, it’s not that they aren’t saved, it’s that they’re not experiencing the fullness of the Lord or the peace from God that surpasses all understanding.
It’s very possible to be saved, but still live under the oppression of Satan. He is constantly nipping at our heals and it’s only through the daily death to self and full surrender to the guidance of the Holy Spirit that we will stay on the narrow path that leads to life.
Satan will make you believe that this sin or that is minor and that God will forgive, and yes, God will and has already forgiven you through the work Jesus did on the cross for you. However, grieving the Holy Spirit by continuing in sin is not the way to experience the fullness of Christ.

Rebuke the devil and the thoughts that come from him and seek refuge in Christ. Take every thought captive throughout the day, utilizing the discernment that comes from the Holy Spirit. Know that you are saved and start living the life God intended for you to live.
3. Gift of the Holy Spirit
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
A clean conscience
Repentance is a necessary step to remain in the peace of God. Having a clean conscience before God is a great feeling, and that comes from renouncing Satan in your life and turning away from sinful living. That’s what repentance means: to turn away from.
However, this word, repentance, isn’t generally adhered to fully. Many of us confess our sins and apologize to God only to be back in the same sin before sundown. This shows the utter weakness of our natural selves and the work that Satan is continually doing in us.
True repentance comes with an attitude adjustment and a physical life change. To fully repent from something, separating yourself from certain social groups or environments may very well be likely. If not, the temptation to sin will be heavy on you and more than likely, will overtake you.
God promises to help you resist the temptations:
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
The Power of the Holy Spirit
So, this is saying that we are able to repent from sin and actually commit to the change. But not without the power of the Holy Spirit, who is given to you as a gift from the Lord. That is the only power that is above the power Satan has in this world.
Someone might be a determined and persevering person, but their power to resist the devil apart from the help of the Holy Spirit is not only temporary, but also deceptive.
Seek a true relationship with Christ, even at the expense of social groups and certain environments, repent from sinful living, and draw daily on the power of the Holy Spirit to remain upright. God won’t abandon you or forsake you – He will meet you and help you no matter what the situation.
4. Heal our Land
2 Chronicles 7:14
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
How many of us are living in less than ideal situations?
How about our countries? Are they experiencing the best of God?
Absolutely not.
God has been offering this promise since the people of Israel struggled through the wildernesses back in the Old Testament days. Today is no different. And guess what? God is still offering this promise.
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Jesus, who is God, and who shares the Spirit of God, is the same, always. What He was like five thousand years ago is what He is like in five thousand years from now. The promises of God from the Old Testament apply today and in generations to come.
If God says that He will forgive and heal, that’s what He’ll do. This means that if you or I get right with God and turn from our wicked ways, or even if the leaders of our countries do so also, that God will forgive us and heal our lands.
Will the leaders of our countries ever do this? Only God knows for sure, right? But what we do know is that God commands us to pray for our leaders who were put there by God, Himself, and leave the results to Him.
Want your land or your nation healed?
Turn away from sin (truly repent) and humble yourself before God. Pray continually each day that God would heal your home and nation, and that your leaders would also repent and be saved. There’s power in prayer and this is how God wants each of us respond.

This would be a lot easier if our Presidents or Prime Ministers would encourage repentance to all their people from their positions of leadership, but for now, it’s up to each of us believers to get started in our own homes and then move forward to encourage others as well.
If you do this, will God give you a better home and restore you to prosperity? I don’t know what God will do. That’s between you and God, and what this Scripture is telling us is that the only way to know is to repent and humble yourselves before God.
I personally am going to work towards this as my land and life could surely use some healing and restoration from God. I don’t know what restored or healed will look like for me and my situation, but I’m sure if it’s from God, it’ll be good!
5. God will give us direction
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Not only the first Scripture I memorized from the bible, it’s a Scripture that I’ve returned to repeatedly over the years.
It’s so easy to lose hope or lose sight of what this life is really about. With the devil constantly telling us that we’re no good and that God doesn’t care about us and that we’ll never amount to anything, it’s easy to want to give up.
And, once we’ve given up, then how do we proceed in this life?
God offers guidance and direction through the Holy Spirit, but we need to seek Him and stay with Him. He is faithful to give us understanding and show us the way we should go.
Each day we are presented with a multitude of decisions, and sometimes, big life-changing decisions. When is the last time you included God in your decision? Did you pray about it to God and then patiently wait for Him to respond?
Allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you through life involves much patience and faith. God works in His timing and He is never late. Bringing something to God to help you sort out requires faith on your part to believe that God heard you, that what you’re praying about is in line with His Will, and that He’s working it out for you, even though you don’t hear Him or see Him working.
It’s almost like we tend to give up on God right before He answers or gives us our a breakthrough.
“When trusting God for direction in life or when praying for something, we are to continue praying and trusting UNTIL He moves.” Click To TweetWhen trusting God for direction in life or when praying for something, we are to continue praying and trusting UNTIL He moves. Not only that, we’re also to maintain a good and thankful attitude and keep peace in our hearts.
Do you need some direction or understanding in your life? Is there something you’re trusting God for?
Be patient and remain faithful. God is good and will work it out in the best way possible!
6. God promises to take our worries and give us peace.
Psalms 55:22
Cast your burden on the LORD,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
Is there anything troubling you? Are you overcome by fear or worry?
God says to cast your cares on Him. He promises to take your greatest worries and turn them to peace that surpasses understanding.
You can live in a situation that is virtually unbearable, yet, still maintain joy and peace in your heart. You can even do so without sinning or cursing God for allowing the difficulty to happen to you.
Consider the Apostle Paul.
Here’s a guy that had his share of hardships. Whipped, beaten, persecuted, and jailed, to name a few, Paul maintained his faith in God. Paul had a true understanding of what freedom in Christ meant.
Personally, if I went through any of the things that Paul experienced, I think I would have a difficult time praising God and maintaining a Godly love for others in the moment. Yes, I still have some maturing to do. But the point is, God will give each of us the strength to keep our focus on Him and to live internally free if we’re willing to submit to Him and cast our cares on Him.
God doesn’t want any of us to live in fear or to be oppressed by Satan.
7. The Lord promises to give us a sound mind
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
It’s very likely that each of us will get thoughts of fear or be put into fearful positions. These thoughts can turn into real health-burdening worries that can not only cause sickness and a breakdown of our physical bodies, but also, can cause us separation from God through our own actions.
Some people turn to drugs and alcohol to numb the harshness of life, others buy things to try to get a feeling of joy, and some even walk away from God altogether, believing that God can’t help them.
Satan is known as the father of lies and one of the biggest tactics he uses is to put thoughts of fear into our minds. Instead of looking for something to make you feel better or to give you a sense of joy, turn to God and give Him your burdens. Let Him comfort you and give you hope. Don’t buy into the lies and don’t give the devil a foothold in your life.
The Lord will strengthen and uphold us.
Isaiah 41-10
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
This is another Scripture that I’ve returned to many times to find comfort and to be reminded that God does care.
So many times, I’ve felt like I’m being overtaken in this life and that I’m losing the battle. But what I’ve learned is that I need to return to God in these times, that it’s only Him who can truly help me.
Discouragement is all around us. Broken economies, broken homes, broken marriages, separated families, crime, loss, corruption, debt; who can win in such an environment? Who can maintain joy and courage to press on?
His strength is shown in our weakness
God is telling us to trust Him. God is telling us that His strength is shown in our weakness. When we are strong, we tend to not rely or depend on God as much, but it’s when we’re weak that we call out to God and His strength is displayed.
Of course, we shouldn’t only rely on God when we’re feeling weak or discouraged, but there is a great contrast of God’s power over our weakness when we’re in turmoil.
In times of hardship and broken spirit, I’ve called out to God and He’s encouraged me and helped me. Did He immediately fix the situation? No. But He strengthened my spirit and gave me an encouragement that allowed me to get back onto my feet. And, that’s where it starts.
If you’re struggling with something difficult that is discouraging and bringing you down, give it to God and allow Him to encourage you and strengthen you. An easy way to do this is to pray to God about it and follow this with a session of praise and worship to God. This allows you to refocus your attention away from the bad onto the good. It’s a good start. Let God direct you from there.
8. The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
Have you been in a situation where you feel like you’re all alone? This Scripture is a reminder that God is with you wherever you go, and that you shouldn’t fear or be discouraged.
God is omnipresent, which means that He’s everywhere at the same time. Satan doesn’t share in this power, but he does have a great multitude of workers who seem to be everywhere at the same time. This is why so many people at all points of the world can be facing spiritual attacks and demonic oppression all at the same time.
Similarly, these same people also have a Powerful God around them, too. There is a hierarchy that exists in the Spiritual Realm, and God’s at the top. It’s the Spirit of God that all other spirits must obey.
When God is telling us to be strong and of good courage and not to be afraid or dismayed, it’s because He has provided us a position at the top of the hierarchy with Him. When we accept Christ, we get the Holy Spirit also. This is part of the Inheritance that we get immediately, that which we don’t have to wait for.
It’s the Holy Spirit in us that will allow us to live our entire lives on this planet and maintain our upright walk all the way to eternity. So, even though evil exists all around us, we all have the same ability and right to become children of God and receive this Inheritance that also provides protection against the devil.
With Christ in your heart, and true repentance from sinful living, you’re equipped with the full power of the Holy Spirit to rebuke the devil and cast his spirits off and away from you. Because you become one Spirit with God, Satan’s spirits must obey and leave you. They can and will return if you return or remain in sin, so, if you want to be free, you need to stay clear of what the devil is offering.
But for those who do strive to live for God and not for Satan, there is encouragement from God and there is a constant unity between them and God. They will never be alone or abandoned.
Genesis 28:15
“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6,8, Hebrews 13:5, Joshua 1:5; “I will never leave you or forsake you!”
9. God’s thoughts are to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11-13
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Sometimes we find ourselves in a position where it seems all is hopeless and that we are destined to ruin. The world, and more specifically, the god of this world, will work against us to break us down and leave us as a mess on the floor. Satan only has one goal here; to destroy.
Everything that he does is done to harm you. There is no good in him, not even a little. The only truth in him is the bit that he attaches to a lie to make it seem believable. Through life, you will experience times of difficulty and hardship. It’s in these times that you must understand that God isn’t against you, but for you.
His goal for your life is eternal hope and joy with Christ. His plan for you only includes goodness and prosperity. The prosperity and abundance of peace and joy and spiritual wellness are God’s goal for your life, whereas the goal of the enemy is fear and strife and division and overall spiritual separation from God that results in eternal death.
When facing a hard time, seek God and spend some time in praise while maintaining a grateful heart. It’s by doing this that you’ll be able to maintain a right attitude towards God and concerning life, and through this, Satan will lose power over you in the moment.
If you react emotionally to your situations, you’ll likely stumble and struggle to find hope. Our emotions are a poor leader. Instead, use the unlimited wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and discernment that comes from the Spirit of God within you. That is how you will find the power and encouragement to press on with a confident hope that God has a great plan for your life that will come to pass.
10. God promises Peace that surpasses all understanding through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-9
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Do you want to experience the peace that surpasses all understanding? Do you want the God of peace to be with you?
Then a continual and dedicated life with Him is what is necessary.
God says in this Scripture to bring all prayers to Him, and while doing so, to be thankful in your heart. This is the best thing to do when the enemy is attacking you, but also, in any and everything in your life.
God wants to hear from you
God wants to hear from you. The main connection for conversation with God is prayer. Sure, He already knows what you’re going to pray for or pray about, but it’s the relationship that God cherishes. He wants to hear your voice praise Him and seek His providence. He wants you to treat Him like a best friend and tell him all that makes you happy or sad or upset. He wants to hear of your hopes and dreams and He wants you to be willing to confide in Him your deepest secrets.
God’s plan for your life is an eternal relationship with Him.
But bringing your prayers to Him is only part of this Scripture. To keep a thankful heart and attitude even in hard times, you must also focus on whatever is true and noble and just and pure and lovely and of good report.
Why does God tell you and me to do this? Because there is power in focus. Through the intense focus of our attention, we can either be brought down to the depths of Hell or the heights of Heaven. The mind is where much work happens; good and bad alike.
So, God wants you to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to set your mind on the things that are above, not the things that are ailing you or bringing you to your knees. If you give a little attention to Satan, he’ll keep pressing you until your entire focus is on him. When you do this, you take the power from God and give it to Satan.
Instead, when the devil is trying to work you over, shut him down. Rebuke him and turn your attention to God. Focus on all the good that comes from Him and see how fast the devil loses power over you. If you struggle with addictions of any sort (drugs, alcohol, food, pornography, money…), I would encourage you to change what you’re focusing on in the moment to that which is of God.
Instead of giving in to whatever it is, understand that you can cast that spirit (the spirit of greed, lust, infirmity, substance abuse…) off yourself in the name of Christ and you can instead set your mind on the things above.
This is what I had to do for many of my addictions, and through this, God has delivered me. Sometimes immediately, and sometimes over a period of time.
Whatever it is, bring it to God and be thankful. Think of what is good from God and give the devil no attention.
Conclusion
There are so many promises from God all throughout the bible, and it’s up to each of us as followers to equip ourselves with as much knowledge as possible. This is why God gave us the bible. He tells us of Spiritual Armor in Ephesians 6:10-17, and He expects us to put this armor on every day.
Perhaps to your surprise, God expects you to be victorious over Satan every day of your life. He expects you to walk in freedom and victory and to not give in to a bad day or give way to a bad thought. He expects you to walk uprightly and to stay clear of sinful living.
How can He expect all this from us mortal beings? Because of His Son and His Spirit in us.
God has equipped us with a power that is higher than any other power in the Spiritual Realm, and not only that, but has given us all the information and direction through the Word of God. Armed with the bible and the Holy Spirit, we are armed with all we could possible need to overcome the devil and maintain our undivided faith in God.
Jesus, who became flesh just like us, was able to practice this kind of living. We are given the same power and Spirit as Jesus, same as when He walked this earth. Jesus kept His focus on the things above and wasn’t willing to lower His standards even once throughout his earthly life, while experiencing pain, hunger, temptation and rejection.
We might not be able to live at the level of sinlessness that Jesus did, but God has equipped us with that which we need to at least try.
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
God knows that we will stumble, but He still wants us to try our best. In the bible, you’ll find many verses where God has promised to help us and keep with us, and if we’re willing, we can win the fight and the race without succumbing to Satan.
Put your trust and faith in Jesus today and start Living!
If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, you can follow this link (Prayer for Salvation) to find out how. Also, if you need prayer for your life or your family, feel free to fill out a private prayer request in the provided prayer box in this article. My wife and I would love to pray for you.
Take care!
I agree but you must also turn away from your sins constantly until they become repulsive to you, you cannot continue in them and expect to live in any kind of victory, and if you die in your sins, what then? That part always scared me into repenting as quickly as possible I never wanted to be left behind or spewed out of Gods mouth for being a lukewarm Christian. I want to be on fire for Jesus.
Very well written great advice but just remember if you continue to sin and don’t change your ways it does say in the bible that GOD can and will spew you you of his mouth.
But I do love this great teaching the word of GOD is always GOOD
Very nice article. Thank you for sharing and may our Lord fill your day with joy.
